Joining Allen in this Kraft Music Hall December 1967 special is an impressive guest list that features music icons Liza Minnelli and Aretha Franklin, and political commentator William F. Buckley. Highlights of this special event feature Allen and the incomparable Liza Minnelli in a pair of charming skits, starring as a husband and wife bickering over the latest fashion trends, and spoofing the on-the-run romance of Bonnie and Clyde. Other unforgettable moments include Allen as Baby Bobby Dimple, a fictional washed-up child star who pouts his way into politics; R&B icon Aretha Franklin’s powerhouse performance of her signature 1967 hits “Respect” and “Chain Of Fools”; Minnelli’s breezy medley of the ‘60s standards “The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy)” and “Up, Up And Away”; and a spirited Q&A segment with William F. Buckley, as the noted conservative commentator sits down with the left-leaning Allen to discuss and debate a variety of hot topics—such as Israeli independence, Lyndon Johnson, and more—while fielding questions from the audience.
