Comedy - The Three Stooges In Orbit

Mark Twain famously said that humor is tragedy plus time, but with a ninety-minute runtime, comedy films have only seconds to keep an audience in their seats.  Just as the silver screen became home to theater’s great talents, Hollywood elevated – and often created – careers of legendary comic talents by translating their bits to film.  The Three Stooges went from a warm-up act to the main event when studios gave their successful shorts the feature treatment, and Lucille Ball, once a chorus girl, earned her comedy credentials in movies before going on to rule television.  The perfect marriage of comedy and film came from Directors like Frank Capra and Billy Wilder who empowered their stars to pull at the heartstrings while tickling the funny bone.
