CULVER CITY, CA – Wed., July 27, 2016 – getTV puts the spotlight on two of Hollywood’s most beloved entertainers, with a pair of in-depth documentary specials airing August 21 and August 28 at 10 p.m. ET, giving viewers an in-depth look at the lives and legacies of the Golden Age icons whose work has continued to influence and inspire generations of fans and filmmakers.

The informative event kicks off on August 21 with WILLIAM HOLDEN: AN UNTAMED SPIRIT—a detailed account narrated by Peter Graves, that illustrates some of the Oscar®-winning actor’s most defining moments, from his humble beginnings working for his family’s fertilization company, and being discovered by Paramount Pictures’ talent scouts; to his star turn in GOLDEN BOY, and enlisting to fight in WWII. In addition to archive footage, the special features interviews with some of Holden’s most notable co-stars including Ernest BorgnineCliff Robertson, and Rick Schroeder, among others. The program will follow a special presentation of the Best Picture-winning 1957 war epic THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, starring Holden and Sir Alec Guinness.

Then, on August 28, getTV presents the career-spanning retrospective WILL ROGERS: AN AMERICAN ORIGINAL—a comprehensive feature that paints a complete picture of legendary humorist Will Rogers, the man once voted “America’s most popular actor,” whose intriguing life rivaled any Hollywood production, as he grew up in Illinois’ “Indian Territory,” worked in Argentina as a cattle puncher, and traveled the world as “The Cherokee Kid” in a Wild West variety show, before starring in Broadway’s storied Ziegfeld Follies and becoming one of the industry’s most beloved stars and quotable columnists.

Also in August, getTV is changing up its daytime programming roster with a revamped lineup that still keeps the focus on the rare and classic television series from the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s, that viewers love. Taking effect on Monday, August 1, the changes include NANNY AND THE PROFESSOR airing Monday through Friday at 7 a.m. ET; THE GHOST AND MRS.
